Ferrari 296 GTB & Porsche 911 at Archive Coffee Bang Na
If you know me, you know my affinity for Archive Coffee in Bang Na. It’s a ten-minute drive from my front door, pours an exceptional cup, and guarantees a rotation of incredible cars. With a few spare hours today, I made the quick trip over, and it absolutely delivered.
Even better than top-tier cars are the people who drive them. Today, I crossed paths with two brothers who own a striking pair of European heavyweights. After capturing some initial frames, I stepped inside to grab their details so I could share the final edits. We ended up chatting about our shared love for Thailand, the unbelievable local car culture, and the perks of living out here. It’s spontaneous interactions exactly like this that fuel my passion for automotive photography and videography.
Now, for the hardware. I’ll admit that while I favor European styling, my heart usually leans toward older classics rather than modern releases. But a Ferrari is a special event regardless of the era, and their vibrant yellow 296 GTB commanded my attention immediately. This mid-engine marvel packs a 3.0-liter twin-turbo 120-degree V6 paired with a plug-in hybrid electric motor. Together, they send a blistering 830 horsepower straight to the rear wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Then there’s the Porsche. I just love Porsche, there isn't much more to say. For me, the 911 remains the undisputed king of daily-drivable sports cars. If I ever have the means, a 911 will be taking up permanent residence in my garage. Naturally, after circling the Ferrari, my lens was firmly pointed at that glorious silver 991.2. It’s a beautifully specced Carrera featuring the 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six, pushing 370 hp to the rear wheels through the legendary PDK transmission. The stance is perfected by a set of 20-inch RS Spyder wheels, and the sports exhaust ensures it sounds exactly as good as it looks.
I didn’t want to hold the guys up, so this was a bit of a run-and-gun session. Still, I’m thrilled with how these shots came out once I got them loaded into Lightroom, especially since this was my very first time out rocking the new Lumix S5ii. It’s a bit of a shift from my previous setup, but I am incredibly pleased with the results. All in all, an awesome few hours with a killer new camera, gorgeous cars, and even better people.
